Champions League
2012 has seen the introduction of "The Champions League" this has been put in place to settle a little matter of, who is the best ability rider?.
The Championship is short & sweet, 1 x Motocross, 1 x Endurocross & 1 x Hare Scramble, all within three months.
A maximum of 25 points for each event will be gained regarless of races on the day.
How does it work?
So, the points work like this:
The Motocross will have 3 races, lets say i win all three races, i would have 75 points in total, 25 points for each race & that would make me the clear winner in my class, i would be awarded 25 points for the Champions League because i won the event.
The Endurocross will have two races, i win both races, i have gained 50 points & won that event therefore i would have gained 25 champions league points.
The Hare scramble only has one race, so i win again, wow! my riding has improved, so now i have another 25 points & get crowned the BEST OF THE BEST!, The Champions League, there it is.
Kevs 2012 Blurb
Hi Guys & Gals, welcome back to what i feel is our most well prepared & organized year to date.
I have been working hard through the late part of 2011 & early 2012 thinking how i could improve on previous years, my crew & i have came up with a few things which we think will make the events more interesting, less time wasting & a safer place for our little tackers starting this amazing sport that we all love.
If look to improve something that already works, you enter dangerous territory, if you sit still & never look to improve you will eventually become short sighted on what is required & what the future thirst for, i personally have never been comfortable with doing the same thing for too long & need to slightly change the norm so that i stay sharp.
So let me explain a few of the decisions that i have made.
We have a new group called SENIORS, Seniors has been put into place for a number of reasons, the first being that 250F motorcycles can be used, the talent of riders from the age of 15 often exceeds riders of a Clubman level & can make it a daunting feeling for 7 year olds competing in the same race, the majority of 125cc youth often want to ride the adult track & also do not need smaller riders to pass whilst they are racing.
The second change is the Champions league, the idea was to create a fun, fast, event with a meaning, having three different formats, three races, within three months should be the foundation for a fast & Furious Championship & prove our outright most talented riders, something new! Something different! & something fun!
The next thing we looked at was, waiting time, on the day it was felt that there is too much wasted time with signing on, scrutineering, day entries, & arranging marshals for briefing.
We have made the following changes, Registered riders who have pre booked & own their own WEER transponder will have no need to sign on, the registration form clearly states that you are signing a medical declaration for the 2012 season, if something changes along the way you must notify ASW of this & we will amend your records, at signing on we will have two lanes, each with a member of staff, one for pre booked riders wanting to rent only a transponder & one for day entries, clearly this will benefit pre booked riders because they won't be stood behind riders needing to fill out day entries.
Scrutineering, we have seen a lot of clubs opting to not scrutineer machines for race, this comes down to an insurance clause, if a club deems a bike fit for race it may? become liable in the event of an accident if the machine is at fault, we are not concerned with the insurance complications & have always maintained that scrutineering should remain in place, however, we have decided that we will remove adult scrutineering this year because you ride the bike, you maintain the bike, & we just do not fail a huge percent of the bikes that come through, we done some statistics on this & adult machines have a 99% pass rate, the amount of time this will save all of you combined with the fast track signing on will have great gains & it was felt that having the extra pre race chill out time would be of a big benefit.
Youth scrutineering WILL remain, our reason for this is, youth competitors generally do not maintain there own bike & parents may not have ever been involved in the sport itself before & therefore may not realize the standard of maintenance required, Senior & Adult scrutineering will be optional, we will of course scrutineer any machine presented to us, but it is not required by club rules.
We have updated equipment, signs etc & every year put back what we can into the future of ASW, i wish you all a good, safe racing season & look forward to seeing you all lined up, adrenalin rushing & i call out, "WHEN THE FLAG DROPS!"
I am very pleased to announce that this season ASW will be using the WEER transponder again.
Now let me tell you a little about them, Our timing equipment is manufactured by W.E.E.R., an Italian company who has been providing transponders to motocrossers throughout Europe and America for 7 years.
The benefits of this new system allows us to eliminate the process of the rider having to stop at the timing tent and physically
swipe his transponder against the reader/detector.
So no more stopping and queuing at the timing tent, just flat out across the
finish line.
ASW MERGE WITH WEER!
In 2011 Kevin travelled to Italy to view the WEER transponder system that we tried to get for 2009.
ASW & Track Times now have the contract for WEER timing systems for the UK.
WEER timing systems have been used widely throuout Europe & USA & are reponsible for scoring motorcross events assosiated with F.I.M. & A.M.A races, however the WEER scoring system costs half the price of other real time scoring systems as you can see below.
ABOUT WEER
The timing system with active Transponders of WEER is designed and developed for a fully automated management of any kind of motor shows as Motocross, Supermotard, Enduro, Kart,& Minibike.
This system increases the quality level of the offer of the promoters to their customer at a very reasonable price.
The system consists of a reader/detector which receives data from a Transponder, installed on the vehicle to be identified, through a Detection Loop located at the start-finish line.
The goal of the system is to identify each vehicle at every passage on the start-finish line.
Together with the univocal identification of the transponder, the system records the total time and the lap time, information used by a specifically designed software, supplied with the system, for the management of the competition.
The components of the system are totally free from any external influence which may cause problems to the detection (weather conditions or critical situations).
